What do you owe the real people whom your characters are based on?

I only have real people with real stories in my book. Each of them gave me a great deal of inspiration.

Have you ever had problems with anyone who feels you’ve written about them?

What is the most difficult scene you’ve ever written?

I wrote a story about a time I messed up earlier in life. It would have been easy to not include this story in my book, but I felt it was important to show a
shortcoming and how I’ve grown from it.

How does writing non-fiction affect you personally?

It’s the only style I want to write. There’s nothing wrong with fiction, but for me personally, I want to be as real as possible and share stories, truth, and
how to move forward.

Are there books you want to write, but can’t (for one reason or another)?

I would love to write more books about a number of different topics, but with my other jobs, activities, and family- it is tough to find the time.

How do you deal with the emotional impact of writing a book?

By taking it slow and really thinking through the process. Not having stressful deadlines, and making sure I can write in comfortable environments.

If you’ve written more than one book, which one is your favorite?

I have only written one.

What do you like to read?/What books are on your nightstand at the moment?

I only read other Christian books. I am currently reading “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” and “Never say no.”

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Anything sports and music related, along with time with my family.

What is your favorite thing about writing non-fiction?

Telling real stories about real events that led to
real growth.
