Matchmaker’s Best Friend: Release Party

Are you ready for a revelation?

Brace yourself…

It’s a doozie.

I’ve only been to three weddings…and one of them was my own.

How does that happen?

I didn’t even think about it until time to write this post when I had to pick my favorite wedding moment and struggled to file through the memories of weddings I’d attended. I came up dry, with the exception of these three wedding moments that stand out in my mind.

I’m going to be cliché and sappy. I’m allowed.

My favorite wedding moment is when the groom sees the bride for the first time. There are a few seconds where he visibly straightens. His shoulders go back and all the pride and love he feels shines in his eyes and might even leak down his cheeks as tears.

It’s magical.

Funny story. I missed that moment in my own wedding. I was busy telling my dad not to let me fall as the doors opened and we began our journey down the aisle. Ah man, nothing like the good ole tripping over your own feet on a flat surface to waylay the pivotal moment of staring into your future husband’s eyes. That might have been a good thing because at the rehearsal, we couldn’t stop laughing every time we looked at each other. We barely managed it during the ceremony. What can I say? We were eighteen and in love.

And here’s your obligatory wedding picture of my own wedding. 2002 doesn’t seem that long ago.

We’re not eighteen anymore, but we’re very much still in love.

Why are we sharing about weddings? It is for the release of the next book in our Independence Islands series, Matchmaker’s Best Friend by Kari Trumbo. Let me tell you some more about it!

“You’re just like a brother to me. I don’t like you in that way.”

When they dated ten years ago as teens, it almost destroyed their friendship. So Pen Reese did the only logical thing.  She lied about how she felt—and still feels—about him.

She’s still paying for that lie.

A brilliant plan to set Mike and a friend up and get over him has one problem.

It’s breaking her heart.

When Pen pushed him away, Mike Gaines assumed she just didn’t understand his faith. People like her persnickety aunt even claim he’s part of a cult—ridiculous, but it’s true. Still, if she wants him to play the part of a big brother, fine. At least he can stay close this way.

At first, Pen’s attempt to set him up with one of her close friends hurts. But what if it’s the perfect opportunity to show her what she’s missing if she sees him with someone else?

In this friends-to-more-meets-second-chance romance, The Matchmaker’s Best Friend continues the Elnora Island romances of the Independence Islands Series featuring five islands, six authors, and a boatload of happily-ever-afters.
