Elementals don’t mix. They fight over territories constantly and news of their battles is everywhere.

Vela, an Earth Elemental, wants two things: to make it through high school and one day run her very own flower shop. When Linc, a Fire Elemental, strolls into her life, she is immediately thrown into chaos when a bond flares up, connecting them forever. Linc pursues her relentlessly, for connections like this are rare, but Vela wants nothing to do with it or him.

With this news, Vela discovers she and Linc may be a part of an age-old prophecy that could change their world forever by uniting the warring clans. However, a powerful group does not want their pairing to exist, for if it does, the prophecy may come true.

Vela and Linc must keep their bond a secret, for their lives are at risk if it is made public.

Can Vela deny a bond that could unite the battling clans, finally providing peace after centuries of conflict? Will she allow herself to love an enemy?

About the Author

Sofia grew up moving constantly. Never in one place more than three years, there was plenty of time to daydream during long car rides. College finally gave her a chance to study what she had always dreamed of doing, writing her stories.

She obtained a B.A. in Journalism, married her handsome husband and had two amazing sons. She’s also the proud mother of a 100-pound red rust Doberman who loves to chase around his sister, a fluffy-not-fat-cat.

A big believer in dreaming big, Sofia loves speaking to youth, encouraging them to find hope no matter what their life looks like. Sofia is a daughter of the Lord first and foremost and finds inspiration with stories like King David and Esther.

More from Sofia

I became a Young Adult Christian Fantasy Author so that I could add clean content to the world of Young Adult books. I love writing a great love story, and here’s one that will meet all your expectations of a great enemies-to-lovers romance without the spice. I love writing a story that mixes faith with fantasy, much like Morgan Busse, Nadine Brandes and Sara Ella. And if you’re wondering if the butterfly on the cover has any significance at all? Why, yes, yes it does. Read Terra to find out why.

Author Interview:

Did you have an “aha” moment where everything came together?

YES! It was amazing. I was on my fifth draft of the book, Terra, and I
finally worked in a scene where Vela comes to a crucial moment with
her faith. She’s forced to decide if she’ll forgive a group of people for
a terrible wrong. I had a moment like that when I forgave my dad for
some bad things and it was so freeing and cathartic. I tried to write
what I experienced in that scene. When I wrote it, I knew in that
moment my book was complete.

Are you working on your next book already? What can you tell us?

I am! It’s book two in, An Elemental Series, and is called, Torch. It
comes out February 6 th , but the preorder is already up. I have to say,
it’s my best book, by far. I’ve switched the POV to be first person and
I’m loving it! I can say so much about what my character, Vela, is
thinking and feeling. It’s made the story come alive for me. I’ve
always written in third person before this book. I was honestly
intimidated to write in first person, but once I finally tried it in Torch, I
don’t think I’ll ever switch back!
I’m also researching about the wilds of Canada for this book and how
to live off the grid, so that’s been super fun. I actually met someone at
my last writing conference who lives off the grid and I’ve been able to
interview her with lots of questions.

What authors would you say influence your writing?

Francine Rivers is number one. I’ve been a huge fan of hers for
decades now and there’s not one author I look up to more. Another
author in my genre recently is AJ Skelly. I read all of her clean
fantasy books and I got so inspired because of her kiss scenes! It
gave me wings to do a better job describing those scenes, because
who doesn’t love a good kiss?

What famous author do you wish could be your mentor?

Morgan Busse, she wrote the Mark of the Raven, the Ravenwood
Saga and I had the pleasure of being able to tell her at a writing
conference that her books are like an act of worship as you read them. Her stories reflect God so beautifully, you can’t help but praise
Him as you read her books.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I’m an old lady at heart. I cross stitch. I do these hugely elaborate
scenes that take years to finish. I did a Thomas Kincade one that took
me two and a half years to do for my son in college. He proudly
hangs it in his room, which I love. Now I’m doing one for my other son
who’s a Senior in high school. I’m hoping to have it finished by the
time he graduates. I can say one thing about myself. I don’t pick easy
things to do in my spare time!

When did you write your first book? Is that first one published?

No, that book will probably never see the light of day. It was a
Cinderella inspired story, but I literally wrote most of it in nine days. I
remember my hands killed me for a week after. But I had to get it out.
When I wrote that book, I knew. I knew I could write more.

How long, on average, does it take you to write a book?

My first two published books took me over a year to write each of
them, but I’ve recently discovered the wonderful world of a writing
schedule. I’m sticking to it pretty good, so I’ve written my last book in
just under three months. It’s a 100,000 word book, so I’m excited to
say the least. I’m hoping I can put out the rest of my four-book
planned series in a year and a half. That’s three books. It makes my
head spin thinking about it, but I love it, because as a reader, I hate it
when I have to wait years for sequels. I’m excited I can have these
books to my readers in a much better time span that what I used to
do.
