Andrew Grayson thought he had everything… until he met her.

The indulged son of wealthy parents, Andrew has always gotten whatever he wanted almost before he knew he wanted it—clothes, gadgets… even a car! What more could a young man desire?

Enter Annabel Thompson. Freakshow mermaid extraordinaire… in a wheelchair!

Of course, her beauty attracts him. How could it not? Add to that a kind heart, and Andrew can’t help but fall for her.

Annabel’s connection with the freakshow repels his parents and their society friends. They want him to sever all ties with her and his new friends. Oh, and marry the “right” girl with the “right connections.” But he won’t do it. He’ll defy them and marry his little mermaid.

When Annabel turns up missing, declared dead, things don’t add up, Andrew begins asking some difficult questions, the most important being, “What happened to the little mermaid of the Coney Island freak show?”

Find out in this next book in the Ever After Mysteries, combining beloved fairy tales and mysteries. Silencing the Siren offers a retelling of “The Little Mermaid” that will keep you gripped to the edge of your seat as you watch the story unfold.

Author Interview:

What was the highlight of writing this book?

I would say the highlight of writing this book was being able to spread
the message that has been so near and dear to my heart while also
crafting a fun story for people to read. I hope my heart came through
within the pages.

Did you have an “aha” moment where everything came together?

Yes! Scrivener actually deleted more than half of my manuscript, and
though it was stressful, it ended up being a blessing! I remembered
that I wanted to add a character that basically represented Ursula’s
human form Vanessa. When I started writing her back in, everything
just came together so much better, and the story became clearer in
my mind.

Are you working on your next book already? What can you tell us?

Yes! I’m working on two different ones right now! I’m working on a
time-traveling “ghost” story that’s part of the Christmas castle
collection. It’s all centered around Neuschwanstein Castle! My other
book is part of the next set of Ever Afters in the 1940s. It’s the Little
Match Girl in the Japanese Internment Camps. It’s a topic close to my
heart, and I hope to do it justice.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I enjoy reading, playing video games, watching movies with my
family, and spending time with my friends. I try to soak up those
moments as much as I can after work and school.

What genre would you choose to write that you don’t already?

I would love to be able to publish fantasy books, and those are next
on my list! I can’t wait to share more about them with you, so keep an
eye out for that!

About the Author

About the Narrator

Speaking Life into Story

Queen of the one-eyebrow quirk, Christa DelSorbo auditioned for the role of Tarzan’s mom and has the photos to prove she ended up as the only cast member in a literal cast. These days, they keep her stuck in a box with a ball on a stick and only feed her when she reads another chapter of another fabulous book. She loves every minute. Or so they tell her. *eyebrow slowly raises *
