Footprints on Her Heart has released and it’s party time!
Footprints on Her Heart is all about the pets. Trent owns an animal shelter, and Kara works with him as a photographer and website manager. It’s her job to photograph the animals and write up bios that help the animals get adopted.
For this release, I decided to talk about funny pet stories. If you’ve ever had a pet, I’m sure you have at least one good story to share. Maybe even a dozen or more.
We’ve had pets my entire life. Cats, dogs, horses, hamsters. They were an integral part of my growing up years and my love for animals carried over into my adult life. As it always happens, when I’m asked for a specific type of memory, I can’t think of a single thing.
But let’s have some fun.
I want to start off with Link. This cat cannot let me work on my photography in the house. Every time I try and set up for a photoshoot, he finds his way to the center and settles in. He thinks he needs all the attention. And he gets so demanding about getting you to pet him that he loses sight of his surroundings and will roll off of whatever he’s sitting on.
Just the other day, while he was rolling around and meowing at me from the top of the cat tower, he rolled too far and fell off. That whole thing about cats landing on their feet, well, it’s true for him.
Now for his brother, Salem. Like Link, this guy loves to be in the middle of everything.
He will follow us through the house, purring and meowing, hoping you’ll sit down and let him nap in your lap.
Salem is a big cat who thinks he’s a small cat.
One of the funniest things I’ve seen him do is weigh himself. He will walk into the bathroom, step onto the scale, then sit down and stare at it, just like a human would.
When he walks off, he even has a disgusted face like he can’t believe the number he saw.
If you talk to him while he’s sitting there, he’ll meow back.
And here’s our newest pet. Hoss is a fifteen-year-old quarter horse who worked as a therapy horse for autistic children until he went blind earlier this year.
Taking care of a blind horse has been a new experience for all of us, but he’s settled in and comfortable. He’s found his forever home.
Hoss navigates by smell. And it can be humorous to watch him, though it breaks my heart, knowing why he does this.
When he wants to go somewhere, he sticks his nose to the ground like a bloodhound and heads out. The other day, he must have found an interesting scent, because he stopped dead still and buried his nose in the ground. You could hear him snuffling as he tried to figure out what he’d caught the scent of. He stayed there for a full minute, all but digging with his nose until he was satisfied. By the time he lifted his head, he had dirt all the way past his nostrils.
More about Footprints on Her Heart
He’s saving the world, one animal at a time.
Trent Raines’ opinion, happily ever after has four paws and doggy breath. He spends his days isolated at the shelter, taking care of animals. Especially now that romance seems to be spreading across the islands faster than fleas in summer.
She lives a safe life behind the camera lens.
Kara Parker’s job at the animal shelter keeps her too busy to worry about romance. Sure, the boss is cute and all, but her introverted nature is perfectly happy as a photographer and website designer, thank you very much.
Even a quick trip to the mainland to retrieve a truckful of animals won’t change their minds.
Or so they think.
As Trent comes to understand Kara, he discovers there’s more than meets the eye in his quiet employee. Together, they plan a Christmas adoption festival that’s certain to empty the animal shelter in record time. Until a blast from Trent’s past puts all the animals in danger.
Sure, Trent and Kara are fine on their own, but they’re even better together.
What will it take for these soulmates conquer their fears and rescue the animals before it’s too late?
