What is the inspiration behind your writing?

Hmmm… Do I have to answer this one? Just kidding. It is a tough one though. I guess, I’d have to say life and experience. Everything around you shapes the writer you’ll be.

Do you have a favorite author or book?

It might a bit predictable, but my favorite book is ‘Jane Eyre’ and my favorite author is—you guessed it—Charlotte Bronte. Although, I do love any of the Bronte sisters really. I just can’t get enough of Jane eloquently putting Mr. Rochester in his place. It has a permanent spot on my TBR pile.

How have you surprised yourself during your writing journey?

As a die hard procrastinator, I think everything surprises me. I’m always jumping into something at the last minute and so I’m as surprised as the readers at the turns my stories take.

What book are you currently reading for fun and are you reading anything for research?

I just started ‘A Single Light’ by Tosca Lee. I’m excited to see where that story goes. As far as research, I think that every book I open is research so my reads are rarely targeted to a specific genre.

If you could sit down to dinner with three authors, who would they be and what would you discuss?

Emily, Anne, and Charlotte, of course. I would just want the story of their lives. I suspect it’s even more haunting and extraordinary than anything they put down on paper.

Can you think of anything you wish you had known before you started writing?

To start as soon as possible. I went back and forth between ‘Am I too young?’ or ‘Am I too old?’ for way too long before I shut my mouth and just started writing.

What’s next for you as an author?

In life as in writing, I am a procrastinator prone to spontaneity. So, your guess is as good as mine.
